Less than five years ago and nearing retirement, Kobe Bryant demonstrated a surge of remarkable play on the basketball court. The pinnacle moment, most likely, his dunking over the much younger Gerald Wallace and Kris Humphries in the lane.
There were others, namely a fierce dunk over lefty Josh Smith — we all remember them, don’t we? I thought we did, but it seems the King has forgotten (as Kings often do).
This streak of incredible play at such an old age, and with so much “mileage” on his knees, quickly led to a new nickname for the Black Mamba: Vino. A celebration of his becoming better with age, just as fine wine. An actual wine was produced to celebrate and commemorate the Mamba’s transformation to Vino.
Just yesterday, Lebron James told the media after his game that he, too, is, “like a fine wine…[and] get[s] better with age.”
Although, the claim is undoubtedly true, there will be no points awarded for creativity. Try again, Space Jam…I mean Lebron.
